Where the money's been spent

FOCUS has spent the money it has allocated on a wide variety of items over the years, some educational, all fun and some treasures to keep. This page shows a selection of items which have been recently purchased by FOCUS for the school. Here's an opportunity to see what your money and hard work is spent on!

May 2010

You may have noticed one of the recent FOCUS purchases in the Infant School Playground. It is a beautiful rainbow coloured 'Friendship' bench. The purpose of this bench is to provide a place for children to meet, to plan games together and to look for new friends to play with.

March 2010

FOCUS has raised money to purchase bikes and scooters for the Reception year. Mrs Taylor and Mrs Heath report that the children in Badgers and Rabbits classes are thoroughly enjoying their new outdoor toys.

£10,000 Lottery Grant

In Easter 2002 our School was awarded a £10,000 grant by the Lottery’s New Opportunities Fund to help make our children more active. In the past year the money has been spent in the following ways:

• All the Y1 and Y2 children attended TaeKwon-do workshops in the autumn term. They were so popular that the after school classes were extended to a third group. Reception classes had an opportunity to attend workshops in February.
• A circus skills workshop with Mr. Pizzazz and a North African Dance workshop were attended by the children in the spring term.
• The staff had training in circle games to support and enhance the children’s playtimes.
• When the drainage of the very boggy area on the field was completed, work on installing more outdoor play equipment began. More all-weather play surfaces, a double sided kick-about wall, an extension of 2 items to the play trail, a netball post and 3 magnetic, educational wall games on the outside wall of class 3 was put in place over the Easter holidays.
• A workshop in football by Bristol Rovers is in the pipeline for the summer term.

The football workshop will bring to an end a year of spending the £10,000. Many thanks are due to Julie Craig, Mrs. Smith and their team for making all this possible.

How has your money been spent?

The money raised from this year’s donations and fundraising events, including Family Photos, the Beetle Drive, the Christmas Bazaar, The School Disco, The Pyjama Story Evening, The Easter Treasure Trail and the Easter Quiz, have been spent on;

• Composting Pig May 2008,
• CD player March 2007,
• Shed to store PE equipment,
• Subsidised cost of visit from Happy Puzzle Company Spring 2007,
• Curtains for classrooms,

Thank you to everyone for all your support in making our School such a fantastic environment for our children to start their first school years. Due to your efforts over the years we must have the best-equipped school in the area!

All sorts of other smaller things have been bought for the school over the years such as electric pencil sharpeners,
a Television with integrated video, CD players and PE equipment.
